Fuse Holder Holders
Fuse Holder Holders

does car amps need fuse holders?
i bought a amp on ebay and tried to install in car but it wont power on with just the wire so i was wondering would it need a fuse a holder.
stgtjunio is right about the tun on wire. the amp needs a ground wire a hot wire and a turn on lead wire.
the ground wire is a short wire that connects to the metal in your car, any metal in the trunk make sure the paint is scraped off to give u a connection.
the positive wire should give u 12v. positive from your battery constant, but the turn on lead is an 18 or 20 gauge wire that should connect to your head unit to turn on the amp, when u turn on your cd player it sends power to the amp via a small voltage and turns it on just like a light switch.
an amp should have a fuse at the battery this protects your cars electrical system and the amp should have it's own fuse.
to answer this, a fuse holder will not make an amp work it will only protect it, and your car the turn on wire is most likely suspect,
refer to your amps owners manual and (google) how to install an amp it is basically three wires and the sound cables.
